A very rare Napoleonic era brass mounted four Barrelled Tap Action Flintlock Pistol by REA of London. Circa 1780. The frame engraved to one side with the maker's name Rea and engraved "LONDON" to the opposite side. John Rea had a workshop at The Minories in London, circa 1777-1812. All four brass cannon barrels are each stamped at the breech with the makers mark and London proof mark. Each barrel is numbered indicating that this pistol was one of a pair. Slab sided walnut grips with a silver  hallmarked oval escutcheon. Good working order. Nice crisp action. The pistol overall in good condition. This is a fine example of a multi-barrelled pistol dating from such an important period in British history, the Napoleonic wars (1792-1815). This maker was also working at the right period in history to have supplied weapons for use during the American Revolutionary War 1775-1783. Ref 4486.
