A rare American .44 Calibre HAMMOND BULLDOG single shot rim-fire Derringer. Circa 1866. Patent dates engraved on top of the breech. The 4 inch octagonal barrel marked CONNECTICUT ARMS & MANF'G. CO. NAUBUC CONN. The breech-block pivots to one side for loading. Chequered grips. Nice crisp action and a strong spring. Overall length approx 8 inches. In good condition with a few minor dings and scratches. These pistols are infamous because one was owned by 'Big Nose Kate' the partner of Doc Haliday. After they went their separate ways, she was found with one of these in her luggage and had the gun taken away from her, then was shot and killed with it. Ref 3825.
