A good single barrelled English .50 cal Percussion belt pistol made by Williams & Powell of Liverpool. Circa 1840. The pistol engraved with the makers name ''Williams & Powell Liverpool'' on top of the 5 inch barrel. Williams & Powell had a workshop at 29 South Castle Street, Liverpool. (1837-1859). The pistol is fitted with a spring belt hook and a swivel captive rammer. The barrel stamped underneath with London proof marks. Sliding rear safety and a V shaped rear sight. Fine engraving to the side-plate, hammer and trigger guard. Good overall condition, showing little sign of use or wear. In good working order. Ref 9937.
